I don't see anything happening with this so we may as well drop it. But I give a "10" to all the efforts.

This is my first time, yes first time to post on the Runnymeade site. Although I do visit this site almost everyday I have never posted because of the "madness" that seems to come out in people when one voices "their" opinion. And NO I am not on this site to make enemies.
I am concerned about people who do speed through the neighborhood. But I am more concerned about the children who actually play in the street. I know that children love to ride bikes in the streets and they have every right to, but for some reason when children can plainly see that a car is coming they do nothing to get out of the way. I live on Lantana, which is in the dead center of the neighborhood and I fear that a child is going to get hit by a car one daynot because someone was speeding through the neighborhood but because children are not using their common sense to get out of the street when they see a car coming. I don't understand it! If a child was riding downtown Mt. Holly and saw a car coming I bet they would get over, but I think since it is the neighborhood where they live they don't feel as worried. I don't have children but I do have a nephew and most children, believe it or not, do not listen when their parents aren't around.
Parents please talk to your children about riding their bikes on the sidewalks or on the edge of the street. Not in the middle where cars drive.
On another point, no I don't think speed humps are the way to go. And yes, people don't drive 15 MPH through the neighborhood - NO ONE DOES! There are people that drive faster than they should through the main streets, such as Walnut, Lantana, Brookstone but most of the speeders probably don't even live in this neighborhood. And the people that do speed - well they know who they are and I have to say that if I am to drive 15 MPH (which is basically coasting) then I am one of those speeders too.
Again, this is my opinion. I am not writing to point the finger at children or adults.

We all need to use some general common sense when it comes to the speed limit in our neighborhood. I have been guilty myself of speeding in our neighborhood (however I don't have as far to go in our neighborhood as some, so I don't get far over the speed limit). Anyway, I think if we educate our kids and adults about making sure they are walking on the sidewalk (where available) and our bikers (bicycles not motorcyclists) ride the edge of the road (facing oncoming traffic), then we will have less to fear. Otherwise, motorists use common sense and courteousy because we do share the road with our bikers.
