A Little Rant by Me (Cleanliness of Neighborhood)

Hello, I am a resident on BrookStone Drive. I just wanted to make a little rant here.
I have a big concern for keeping our neighborhood looking good. This is for many reasons safety, look, resale value etc.. Some houses in the neighborhood must be abandoned (front lawn looks horrible etc..) On monday morning Charlotte Observer threw newspapers infront of everyones house instead of using the specific mailbox for them. I have complained to them on my behalf. I simply dont want someone throwing things on my driveway especially what i consider litter.
I dont know all the politics that have occured over the past couple of years. I remember reading somewhere about creating a playground somewhere and all that non-sense. I plan on attending the next meeting, but if there is any money out there people are sitting on from dues etc.. It needs to be invested in beautification of our neighborhood and safety measures.
I feel a little better now. If someone can post a list of the possible abandoned houses off of Brookstone etc.. I personally dont have a problem investing a few dollars in gas to weed wack/mow them myself. Getting some exercise and relieving a eye sore is worth it for me.
thanks

In the fall we're going to fix up under the powerlines. I've already been up with the DUke Power people to let me know what kinds of plants they say are okay and etc. After we get a landscape plan they'll come out and make sure it's okay before we plant. I was thinking about some park benches there too....I've been trying to stay on top of the yard issues, although I'll be the first to admit I'm swamped and have done an awful job all by myself. No need to spend your own money, that's what you pay HOA dues for - I've just been terrible at getting things taken care of in a timely fashion. I'd love some help if anyone is interested in coming up with a "yard committee" or something like that. Someone to coordinate emailing me when grass gets to high, so I can get letters sent and landscapers lined up. I'm drowning here. |
